The purpose of the yarn count test is to determine the fineness or thickness of the yarn. The yarn count influences fabric appearance, weight, and texture. For example, a 30 Ne cotton yarn is much finer than a 10 Ne yarn. Different equipment is used, such as the Wrap Reel, the Analytical Balance, and the Beesley Balance. The formula example is

Yarn Count = (Length X Unit Constant) / Weight

The purpose of this test is to measure the force required to break the yarn and how much yarn stretches before breaking. Stronger yarns lead to stronger fabric with longer lifespans. CRE of CRT tensile testing machines is used for this testing. During this test, we mount the yarn sample between two clamps, and the machine stretches it at a fixed rate until it breaks, and the force at break is recorded as the tensile strength. The purpose of this test is to determine the number of twists per unit length in the yarn. Twist gives yarn strength and elasticity.
