How to test yarn length
In this article, we will demonstrate a lab procedure for testing yarn length by using DaRong’s Yarn Length Tester YG(B)086C
We demonstrate the YG(B)086C Wrap Reel Machine. This test follows standard GB/T 4743.
Turn on the instrument power switch.
Click on “Parameter Settings”.
Set parameters according to the standard and the nominal yarn linear density.
Set the appropriate number of turns.
Set the number of bobbins.
Once set, enter the test interface.
Click “Reset”.
Adjust the pretension based on the nominal yarn linear density.
Conduct a pre-test.
Sample preparation:
Select samples according to the standard.
Condition the samples.
Mount the samples:
Insert the yarn bobbin onto the bobbin holder.
Discard the first few meters of the yarn.
Guide the yarn through the yarn hook,
pass through the tension regulator, tension sensor rod, and traverse yarn guide hook.
Clamp the yarn into the yarn clip.
Restore the blade to its original position.
Click “Start”.
The test begins.
The yarn reel will stop automatically after reaching the preset number of turns.
Remove the yarn.
Weigh the sample and calculate the actual pretension.
Adjust the tension weight accordingly.
Conduct the formal test using the same method.
Wind the yarn and weigh it.
Calculate the yarn linear density.
